Brief History

The birth of the Filipino Student Association of Saint Louis University occurred during the 1996-1997 school year. The Filipino Student Association (FSA) of Saint Louis University is a group of diverse individuals who have been brought together to promote unity in cultural values and spread awareness about the Filipino culture and Filipino American issues. We strive to educate our campus and the Saint Louis community through our performances and various events throughout the school year, which reflect the beauty and our pride in Philippine tradition. Some of our annual events include Identity Discover Define diversity workshop, Homecooking Night, Simbang Gabi, the Filipino American Music Experience, and an annual cultural show, among others. As a relatively young organization on SLU's campus, FSA has grown tremendously over the last ten years in both numbers and our involvement with our school community, the Saint Louis community, and the Midwest Association of Filipino Americans. We continue the mission initiated by the founders of the Filipino Studernt Association; to educate the public about the customs and traditions of the Philippines.
