  • Kilusan [Cultural Dance Troupe]
  • Kilusan was formed in the fall of 2006 by the Philippine Student Association, founded by Jolien Genus, cultural chair of PSA. The co-founders who helped bring Kilusan to the Northern Illinois University were freshmen KayeLani Acoba and Brittany Santillan. Together they recruited dancers to perform at school events within the Asian American Community. Kilusan has made its debut in Asian American Association and OLAS’s United Colors of NIU (UCON) in December of 2006.
  • The vision of the founders is to not only reach out and expand to the NIU community, but to show and represent the Filipino Culture with pride. In addition, Kilusan also hopes to begin and keep friendships among the dancers. Kilusan also enriches its members with the knowledge of the traditional dance culture of Philippines.
  • ANiMATiON [Modern Dance Troupe]
  • Animation is held under the Philippine Student Association at NIU, which was found in 2004 by Shane Adriatico, Justin Pagsisihan, Nikko Belano, and Anne Navaleza. From 2004, Animation has grown as a hip hop based dance team who shares a passion and interest in dance, teamwork, and skill. The team performs at Greek, and student organization events, and competes annually in the HYPE hip hop competition. Every member of Animation, past, present, and future will always be filled with character, individuality, and creativity.
