Maraming Salamat!
Thank you to all who were able to make it to our Typhoon Ondoy Relief Luncheon this past Sunday and helped to donate to our cause! We are very proud to announce that IU FSA in conjunction with the Filipino American Association in Bloomington were able to pack 20 Balikbayan boxes full of goods and raise over $6,000 for the Philippine Jesuit Foundation to help rebuild houses in the most devastated areas of Manila. Thank you again for all your support, we hope everyone's fundraising efforts are just as successful!

In that case, then you were also probably invited to PSA's first meeting, as described on our flyer, "Welcome! PSA Meet & Greet'. Told you our EBoard is very friendly.

Hey, may
May napupunta ang Spiderman.
Sa ginaw ng gabi
Sa pinangyarihan ng isang krimen
Tulad ng isang guhit ng ilaw
Siya ay darating lamang sa oras.
Spiderman, Spiderman
Maawain kapitbahayan Spiderman
Yaman at katanyagan
Siya ay winalang-bahala
Aksyon ay ang kanyang gantimpala.
Para sa kanya, buhay ay isang magaling na laban
Tuwing may problema
Makikita na ang Spiderman.
3vs.3 Charity Basketball Tournament this Saturday, July 18th, 2009 in the Chicagoland area!!!
Hey whats up everybody,
My names Oliver Mayapis and I am a Junior at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. At UIUC I am one of the "Fil-Am' coordinators. My responsibilities include raising as much money and/or resources to donate to a worthy charitable cause within the Philippines. This year my team and I have elected Love146.org as our charitable organization. Love146 is a non-for-profit organization based in the U.S. that battles towards abolishing human trafficking world wide: in particularly southeast Asian. It is estimated that human trafficking is the second largest syndicate next to drug trafficking in the world and this is especially true within the Philippines.
Given this I have organized a 3vs.3 basketball tournament to raise money for Love146. The tournament will be held on Saturday July 18th at the Willow Recreation Center in Hoffman Estates starting sharply at 10:00am with registration and the first round of games at 11am (times will be posted for games shortly once registration ends). ALL PROCEEDS raised from the tournament will be donated towards Love146. The rules and regulations are as followed:
_______
The tournament is open to all players ages, preferably 18-22 years old (2 valid ID's will be required at check-in or you will not be able to play). 4 half courts will be used for the tournament. The games will be 3 on 3 with street basket ball rules applied:
First to 13 points (1's and 2's) and teams must win by two points
OR
Whichever team has the most points by the end of 25 minutes
Each team participating will be guaranteed at least 2 games to play. Teams must consists of 3-5 players. The cost of registering for the tournament is $50 per team (just 10 dollars each for a team of 5) BEFORE the July 3rd deadline. After July 3rd is $65 per team. Register now!
The registration deadline for a given team will be open from now until Friday July 3rd, at 11:59pm. Note: teams that plan to go deep in the tournament could ultimately play 3-5 games in the tournament so it'd be wise to have a full team plus reserves (5 players). General admission for spectators is $3.
The non-refundable registration fee of $50 shall be paid in full before the July 3rd deadline or the team will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Again you can either contact me through facebook, email at mayapis2@uiuc.edu, or call me at 415-624-9065 to register.

I HAVE ONE SPOT LEFT FOR THE TOURNAMENT SO CONTACT ME AT 415-624-9054 ASAP OR EMAIL AT MAYAPIS2@UIUC.EDU

Potluck Picnic Time Pushed Back to 7:30 PM TONIGHT
Hi PSA-ers!
Sadly, the weather today is forecasted to be rainy and gloomy. Totally wrong conditions for a picnic on the Oval. But PSA still wanted to give you something to look forward to so, PSA Board has decided to push back our potluck picnic to 7:30 PM at our usual meeting room in Mendenhall 115. Inside of having outdoor activities, we'll be bringing classic games such as Taboo, Monopoly, cards and other games. We'll still hold our potluck so come with food and an empty stomach.
So don't forget, Mendenhall 115 At 7:30 PM!!
See you tonight!! :)

Aloha everyone, come out and spend some time with your old buddies before the end of the year. We are having a movie night at our new presidents spot, enjoy a real filipino movie "Care Giver" (most likely a comedy considering all filipino movies are hilarious) and some pizza, oh btw bring some food if you want. And before you say anything, we will have carpools, email PSA or talk to Jen luu, Alex A, Christine Pulido or Raven Baldwin if you need a ride. This night is going to be radical. Also, to help pay for the truckloads of pizza our vice president Christina Buckler and everyone else will be eating no doubt, we are asking everyone to throw in $1, unless you did buckeye books volunteer work this spring. thanks
Who: of course everyone is invited
What: Movie, food, socialize
Where: Runaway Bay, sounds like a waterpark for angry kids children but actually it is where Jen lives, very nice.
When: Wednesday 27th, 7pm
We hope to see as many people attend, because Felix misses you all soo much.
